Roving Gyms, began as an idea to increase physical health and well being during the winter months, was a response to both the 2014 and 2016 Early Development Instrument (EDI) data. Building upon the community momentum, the Coalition collaborated with other organizations. The need continued and soon the local YMCA integrated the idea into their programming. The success was shared and spread to other Coalitions who invite local experts on brain development to talk to parents about early childhood development. This successful way of building adult capacity and awareness of the early years was featured on CTV and Global News. Connections continue as the Coalition supports the orientation and resources, including additional funding.
Lethbridge Early Years Coalition (LEYC) created five themes of Digital Play Packs to help parents and caregivers find balance between engaging in active play opportunities and digital play with their children. Learning from the West Red Deer County Early Childhood Coalition, LEYC created Science Magic, Hide & Seek and Superhero Fun Digital Play Packs (DPPs).
