I’m Ready for Screens

The Impact of Screen Time on Early Childhood Development Symposium was held in Calgary in October 2019.  The Calgary and surrounding Community Coalitions helped to organize, provided financial support and staff a resource table.  The day was a huge success and discussion about what to do with all the research and valuable material started immediately afterwards.  Wanting to get this information into the hands of families, the NW Calgary Coalition and the Symposium Committee decided to work together to produce the I’m Ready for Screens Booklet.  This resource booklet includes speaker information and research, plus current guidelines for parents.  It was also vetted by a variety of specialists.  The Symposium Committee worked with the Calgary Catholic School Board to print copies for agencies that can not afford to do so on their own.  Offering hard copies as opposed to electronic will reinforce the need for a reduction in screen time use.  The Calgary and Surrounding Community Coalitions are also working together to print copies to be used in our neighbourhoods.  What a great legacy from such a fantastic day!

Did you know? I’m Ready booklets are now translated into 15 languages!
