Building the capacity of local communities to create optimal environments for children’s healthy growth and development is complicated work. In Alberta, the work of Early Childhood Coalitions was supported by the Family and Community Supports Services Association of Alberta (FCSSAA).

FCSSAA provided provincial coordination and support, including grant management and shared measurement practices, for the Early Childhood Coalitions in Alberta (ECCA). It provided backbone support and acted as a liaison between Coalitions and the Government ministries to support the Coalitions’ understanding of the provincial mandate, and to disseminate information regarding early childhood development.
