Northwest Peace

Northwest Peace Early Childhood Coalition

Who we are:

The first five years of a child’s life are among the most significant period in development and have a lifelong impact on their learning, health, work, relationships and well-being. The Northwest Peace Early Childhood Coalition acts as a community liaison for young families by connecting parents, caregivers and service providers to community resources. Together, members raise awareness about the importance of the early years, and help to advocate for community needs, issues and opportunities in order to create an overall connected community.

Vision: To increase awareness of services and connect parents, caregivers and service providers with research-based developmentally appropriate information.

Area served: Peace River, Grimshaw, Berwyn, Brownvale, Dixonville, St. Isidore, Nampa, Reno, Red Earth Creek and surrounding areas.

Where we’ve been:

We are part of a rich history of establishing the foundations of health and well-being in the early years with the collaborative support of parents, families, caregivers, and our community.
We create, develop and implement an annual Coalition Community Action Plan (CCAP). The action plan includes measurable goals and provides details on the actions and activities that will contribute towards achieving the goals. The CCAP focuses on increasing awareness and understanding of early childhood development and available resources, engaging community, collaborating with stakeholders and building our capacity.

Where we’re going:

Our Coalition is a connector by nature. We have increased our membership over the past year by over 50%. We have added lots of value to our members through our website, mapping project and social media channels. Our mapping project is an interactive map on our website that showcases 56 different agencies in our geographic area. We have incorporated pictures of the outside of the agency and inside to eliminate anxiety parents/ caregivers might have. We have also developed strong community partnerships. Through our partnerships we have collaborated on initiatives and events in our community. We hope to build capacity through our partnerships and help build the profile of our members while increasing awareness for the importance of early education.
