Lamont County: Early Steps to Success Coalition
Who we are:
Vision: To enhance and strengthen the communities’ capacity to provide early childhood development.
Mission: To create awareness in the community regarding Early Childhood services available and to put the groundwork in place for additional needed resources.
Our overall goal is to create better outcomes for families with children ages 0-6 in the community and create sustainable resources, programs and events that are community led.
Where we’ve been:
In 2013, under the research project ECMap, the University of Alberta’s Community University Partnership (CUP) supported the development of our Coalition with key partners including Family & Community Support Services (FCSS) as well as the decision to hire an Early Childhood Development Coordinator whose focus is to connect with our community. Our Coalition holds quarterly meetings with other members of the Early Childhood Development teams. We connect and brainstorm community ideas and build on future programs and resources.
Where we’re going:
Our group is responsible for promoting resources, communicating current and updated EDI results, creating events related to the promotion of early childhood development, working with FCSS and other community groups to collaborate on events and resources for the community.
Come join us as we continue to create and sustain positive change for young children and families. Let’s build a foundation of health and well-being in the early years that will last a lifetime.
Our membership is open to all of the community and often includes parents, grandparents, Early Learning and Care providers, educators, health care workers, librarians, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, community groups, and service providers.
