Edmonton Early Years Coalitions

EEYC

Who we are:

EEYC is a collective of all of the Early Childhood Coalitions in the City of Edmonton. Coalition leaders meet monthly to share learning, identify opportunities to collaborate, share resources and most important to align actions and identify the best way to measure our impacts in a consistent, coordinated way.

Vision:
To better understand the community assets required on a local level for positive early child development and promote parent-guardian-community involvement in healthy early child development.

Where we’ve been:

We all have a role to play.

We know that children need environments that are nurturing, stimulating, safe and consistent to support healthy development. Parents and caregivers play a big role and can do many things to stimulate development.
Families also require supportive environments in order to be able to meet children’s development needs. Studies show that multiple spheres of influence affect a child’s development, including caregivers outside the family, the neighbourhood environment, resources in the community, cultural and religious affiliations, and the attitudes, policies and resources provided by wider society. These spheres of influence interconnect to form both the child’s and the family’s environment.

Where we’re going:

Come join us our Edmonton Coalitions as we continue to create and sustain positive change for young children and families. Let’s build a foundation of health and well-being in the early years that will last a lifetime.

Our membership is open to all of the community and often includes parents, grandparents, Early Learning and Care providers, educators, health care workers, librarians, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, community groups, and service providers.
