Who we are:

Vision: All children establish the foundations of health and well being in the early years with the collaborative support of parents, families, caregivers and their communities.

Mission: The South Central Coalition engages with community and provincial stakeholders to create and sustain positive change for young children and families. This contributes to a foundation of health and well-being that will last a lifetime.

Where we’ve been:

South Central has focused past efforts on the following:

Development of the “I’m Ready” booklets to share key messages about the 5 Early Development Instrument (EDI) developmental domains

Provide information about local EDI information by printing a map with local EDI resources

Using the “Noodle Do” boxes to highlight parent child serve and return interactions and build partnerships

Support collaborative partnerships such as the “Read with Me” initiative & Loose Parts Loose Parts bins

Where we’re going:

Current Goals:

Engaging the community by gathering the parent voice:
Collaborate with Bow Valley Early Childhood Development students who will prepare a questionnaire for parents about what is working well in Early Childhood Development and what are the existing gaps.

Prepare a one pager about the Coalition for distribution at events and send it out via email with an invitation to join.
To expand membership educate the community on the work of the coalition. Attend community events to further educate the community on the EDI & latest developing brain information

Via distribution of “I’m Ready” booklets and the Noodle Do kit as a tool for parent education.
