Brooks/Newell County

Brooks & County of Newell Early Childhood Development Coalition

Who we are:

The Brooks & County of Newell Early Childhood Development Coalition was formed on November 17, 2011 by groups of individuals who have come together to actively promote positive early development, and work on behalf of their early childhood development (ECD) community.

Where we’ve been:

Since the inception of the Coalition in 2011, there have been consistent members as well as members who have come and gone. The work of the Coalition, however, has gained momentum and has evolved and changed with the trends and needs within our local ECD community. We are a dynamic group with the collective intent to promote a healthy environment for our children as well as their caregivers and parents.

Where we’re going:

Most recently, members have focused on ensuring that tangible, concrete, developmentally appropriate resources be made available for early childhood caregivers and professionals using existing community organizations to house and distribute resources. Priority has been given to providing hands on knowledge and skill development for those working with and caring for children ages 0-6 years.

The Circle of Ideas Workshop has evolved into a very successful professional development opportunity where local professionals share and teach each other. There is such great knowledge and information to share with each other!

ECE Chat Night’s take place four times each year and has proven to be a safe place for ECE professionals to discuss successes, challenges, and dissolve competition among each other.
