Coalitions are organized by geographic areas to address the various needs of individual communities and to support communities in understanding how young children are doing.
ECD communities and coalitions, contribute locally and provincially to conversations on how to improve supports, programs, services and policies that affect a child’s early years.
Coalition Members vary by community and often include parents, grandparents, early learning and care providers, educators, health care workers, librarians, non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, community groups, and service providers.
Members collaborate, using their communities’ strengths and resources, to promote positive early development and respond to local needs.
The Early Childhood Coalitions are partners in the Alberta Early Development Instrument (EDI) program. Coalitions receive their communities, EDI data and, alongside other community information, explore the EDI results to find out more about what working well and what can be improved in the community in order to improve supports for local children and their families.
(ECCA) is the provincial identity of nearly 100 active coalitions across Alberta, supported by the team at (FCSSAA), and the tri-ministry partners.
